Ingredients

  • Dry Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Wet Ingredients:
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ¾ cup raw honey
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • Optional Glaze:
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp orange juice

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, combine melted butter, honey, and eggs.
  • Stir in orange juice, orange zest, and grated ginger.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined (avoid overmixing).
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • For extra flavor, brush the cake with the optional honey-orange glaze while warm.
  • Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For added citrus flavor, increase the orange zest or add a few drops of orange extract.
  • This cake pairs wonderfully with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or a citrus glaze.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
