Description

  • ½ cup sour cream

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (optional for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Prepare potatoes: Slice potatoes thinly using a mandoline or knife for uniformity.
  • Make cheese sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in heavy cream, sour cream, and 1½ cups of cheese until smooth. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Assemble casserole: Layer half the potatoes in the dish, pour half the cheese sauce over them, and repeat the layers.
  • Top with breadcrumbs and cheese (if using).
  • Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Cool and serve: Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
