- 1 cup boiling water
- Oreo Buttercream
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3–4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 cups Oreo crumbs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2–3 tbsp heavy cream
- Chocolate Ganache
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Baking the Cake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three 8-inch cake pans, lining them with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin) and divide it among the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and cool the cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Making Oreo Buttercream
- Beat butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar.
- Mix in Oreo crumbs and vanilla extract.
- Add heavy cream as needed to achieve a spreadable consistency.
- Preparing Chocolate Ganache
- Heat the cream until it just begins to simmer, then pour over chocolate chips.
- Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
- Prep Time: 30 minutes
- Cook Time: 30-35 minutes per layer of cake
